Nigeria @60; What is there to celebrate?🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
When we hear the word "change", without much thinking, all what comes to the mind is positivity all round forgetting there are two sides to "change". Change is becoming different. Every change that happens in a country, society, groups, families, do not just happen without the contribution of men in it. We are the change happening in our country!
For 60 years of Independence, we are here, like this, in a mess created by us all one way or the other through our indiscipline, nonchalance, hesitation and fear, negligence, tribalism, "sitting on the fence" attitude, all these and more contributing to the state of our nation.
Each sector of the country keeps crumbling or not having a significant development as expected. Politicians keep failing us. Labour leaders disappoint us. We are scared of the so called people to keep us safe. Insecurity, killings, poverty and unemployment on the high side. Fellow Nigerians, what is there to celebrate?
The fire in the spirit of men working towards making our Nigeria a better nation, the rising of voices of men, women, youth, that was once silent, the contribution of seen and unseen patriots contributing their quota towards achieving a land full of honey and wine, the contribution of men and women no matter how little it is, our solidarity, our voice, our good fight, our light, our sweat, our unquenchable desire and work towards a positive change, towards a real independent state is what I celebrate.
I celebrate our health workers who are fighting the pandemic, risking their lives to safe lives, I celebrate our teachers who not withstanding of the bad treatment they get, work with passion, influencing the destinies of our children positively, I celebrate our leaders who are faithful to keep their promises, I celebrate the youth making inspiring and tremendous change in the country, I celebrate our voice that refuse to go low for our sake, for the sake of our children, for the sake our future, for the sake of a great nation Nigeria. I celebrate us in the midst of a new change yet to be discovered. I celebrate Nigeria at 60. I celebrate a new month of October.
What is there to celebrate?
